September 2013 Kenny Jackett all calm on transfer deadline day - Monday September 2nd 2013
The Wolves boss, Kenny Jackett has done some serious rebuilding of the team over the last few months and as the deadline for transfers loomed he could sit back and relax, safe in the knowledge that his house cleaning was complete and he has a great team to work with going forward.
Jackett had already signed Kevin McDonald, Scott Golbourne and Sam Rickets in the summer and today he added Bradley Reid to the youth ranks. In an interesting move, Jackett took on the 17 year old Wrexham striker, only to immediately loan him back to the Conference Club. The motivation behind this move, according to the club, is to maintain his current excellent form but maybe it is also felt that Reid isn’t quite ready to join the Wolves just yet and will benefit more by training with his old team mates. Plus the young player is eligible to play both youth and under 21 football, so it’s a very smart strategic move on his part and will play in the Wolves U21 team as “one for the future”.
The Wolves reshuffle also saw them allow Stale Solbakken take Georg Margreitter to FC Copenhagen for a full season and Jamie Reckord joined Plymouth on a 3 month loan. These players have been replaced by Jackett’s new picks and he must feel like he’s won the jackpot at MobileCasinoAustralia.com.au to have concluded so many successful trades and acquisitions.
As the deadline for transfers moved closer Jackett was very relaxed, and Wolves fans are no doubt delighted that two of his stars, Kevin Doyle and Bakary Sako, had not been sold before the 11pm cut-off time, he is unconcerned. When questioned on Doyle and Sako, Jackett remained diplomatic and said that there has been some interest and of course there is always ongoing speculation, but no deal is in the pipeline at the moment.
The former Welsh international footballer said that he was satisfied with the transfers and there was no one else he was really interested in adding to the club. He did try out Livingston midfielder Stefan Scougall but since he was on the verge of a permanent move to Peterborough it was a temporary arrangement that Jackett never intended to pursue further.
Jackett can relax now and concentrate on the Wolves as a team, and he hopes to bring Wolverhampton some glory with the League One Club.
