The nearest railway stations are Selhurst, Thornton Heath or Norwood Junction, all of which are served by London Victoria mainline station. Thornton Heath and Norwood Junction are also served by trains from London Bridge. Journey time approx 30 minutes. It is then a 10-15 minute walk to Selhurst Park from each of these stations.

Please note that as Crystal Palace reached the F.A. Cup Final then our match at Selhurst park on Sunday 18th May will be changed.

Friday 5/1/24 v Brentford FA Cup (7:15pm kick off)

The nearest station to the ground is Kew Bridge which is only 100 metres away from Brentford’s ground. Fastest trains from Waterloo are at 07, 22, 37 and 52 mins past hour. Journey time approximately 30 mins. Return trains at 15, 27, 45 and 57 past hour.

The ground is also close to the Chiswick Park, Gunnersbury, Kew Gardens and Acton Town stations on the London Underground, and is also served very well with a range of bus routes. The ground is also not far away from the old Brentford stadium, which is about a mile away.

The best pub in the area always has been the Express Tavern just 4 doors from the station while Beesotted use The Globe

Monday 22/1/24 v Brighton (7:45pm kick off) TNT Sports

No official club trip. The nearest railway station is Falmer, which is situated right by the stadium. The quickest

and easiest way to get to the stadium is by train. Falmer station is adjacent to the ground. It's three stops from

Brighton Central station on the line to Lewes and Seaford. Alternatively, you can avoid Brighton completely by

getting a train to Lewes and changing there for Falmer. There are four trains an hour in either direction.

Brighton Central Station is over four miles away from the stadium. Bus No 25 can be caught from Cardinal Square

stop G and operates a regular service (every 12 minutes) up to the stadium from Central Brighton, as do Bus

 Numbers 28 & 29. Journey time is around 20 minutes. On return the No 25 leaves from the stadium via a stop

 through the coach park, near to the away fans entrance.

Public transport within a geographical zone is free as it is included within the price of the match ticket. Valid on

both buses and trains, the zone extends as far north as Haywards Heath station and east to Lewes.

Anyone travelling from London only needs to buy a train ticket to Haywards Heath.

Sunday 4/2/24 v Chelsea (2pm kick off)

No official club trip. The nearest tube station is Fulham Broadway (District Line).  West Brompton station,

on the London Overground line between Stratford and Clapham Junction, is about a 15 minute walk

to the ground.

Saturday 17/2/24 v Spurs (3pm kick off)

White Hart Lane Station is the nearest to the stadium, which is only a few minutes walk away. It is served by trains from Liverpool Street. Away fans should use Northumberland Park Station which is about a 10 minute walk away. On exiting the station cross the road and proceed along Park Lane. On reaching the stadium turn right and the entrance to the away supporters turnstiles is far down on the left. Northumberland Park is served by trains from Stratford.

The nearest London Underground station is Seven Sisters (Victoria Line). The ground is a 30-35 minute walk away, but buses 149, 249, 279 or 349 go to the ground from outside the station along Tottenham High Road. Take exit 1 on leaving the station.

London Overground also run services from Seven Sisters to White Hart Lane station.

Tales tellers in this edition include a lad from Tipton, Chris Marsden, John Pender, Ted Farmer, Jeff Palmer, Willie Car, and King John Richards himself.

Again proceeds go to charity - Jason raised over £20,000 from volume 1 which sold out.  King John said of volume 1 that he was learning so much about his former teammates and really enjoyed the book.

Simon Ivermee

Sadly, Simon died on 23rd May after a long battle with illness,  He had been treated at Stoke Mandeville until they could not progress his recovery and he passed away in his care home.  Si, our own Wycombe Wanderer, and Bodger, was a long time member of London Wolves, and a regular home and away traveller.   Simon was also a very active player in London Wolves FC.   He was a great friend and travelling companion to Robin Prickett, officiating as best man at his and Linda's wedding at Molineux, meeting DJ and SJH just before the wedding. Robin paid tribute to Si saying  "I have known Si over 50 years; as you know we travelled up from High Wycombe in all weathers including midweek to most home games and until recently many  away games; Si  being my human sat nav, he was a top bloke and Wolves through and through. He was also Best man at mine and Linda's wedding, and will never be forgotten."  Simon actively supported our AGMs and other events and will be sorely missed.

World Wide Wolves - London Wolves are UK Club of the Year -  for 4th year running

Stuart was delighted to accept this award from Alan Perrins and Paul Butler in the World Wide Wolves lounge before the Everton draw and the Field of Dreams match for WWW fans.  

Our congratulations too to Irish Wolves, Overseas Club for the second time, Scottish Wolves (a combining club) as most improved, outstanding contributor Tony Lawlor of Irish Wolves, whose weekly chat is well worth a listen, and David Koppe of New York who also played in the match captaining the Teal (aka green) team and has hosted Wolves events in New York, as Chairman of the Year.    Also there was one of the pioneers of US Wolves clubs, Chris Wood of Ohio, who played in goal.  It was also nice to see Paul Butler as the special guest in the lounge who told some stories of 2003.  There was a flying visit by Bully.

Alan is opening up the Facebook page to regular visitors to the Lounge.  (Where you can also listen to Tony Lawlor's chats)  I will post something on our Facebook page.  Please take care to understand the house rules, and especially remember that you would be seen as a representative of London Wolves if you join.

World Wide Wolves - Field of Dreams - Fans' match = Joe Feehan

Alan Perrins, who first joined us at our AGM five years ago, has enrolled over 170 supporters' clubs into World Wide Wolves.  Fans from around the world were invited to play on the Molineux pitch after the Everton game.  The Teal shirts won 6-4 over the Golds.   But man of the match was our own Joe Feehan who played number 4 for gold.  He scored what a proud father called a Neves-like top bin goal.  See that here https://twitter.com/i/status/1659992472209043456

London Wolves Walk - Saturday July 8th 2023 11:30

Just two weeks before the AGM, Geoff Castro is arranging his legendary, informative, and possibly liquid exploration of a culturally interesting part of London.  This time we will again be South of the River.

Geoff, your tour guide, writes that he starts on the North Bank before crossing over.....

  This year’s walk features famous landmarks both north and south of the River Thames. Starting near the site of the Tower Hill scaffold - where over 125 people "lost their heads" between the 14th and 18th centuries - the walk takes us over Tower Bridge, into the quieter streets of Southwark and then back towards bustling London Bridge. As always, there will be lots of interesting places to see en-route and a choice of over 34 pubs - some of them haunted - although, unfortunately, there will not be enough time to visit them all! A bus is available for those who prefer not to walk. Hopefully, the sun will be shining and the day will feature something of interest for everyone. If you wish to partake in this extravaganza of fact and fiction, please meet in "The Liberty Bounds" (Wetherspoons), 15 Trinity Square, Tower Hill at or before 11-30 for a 12pm start on Saturday 8th July 2023.

Wolves awards presented after the Everton draw went to Ruben Neves, of course, both Supporters' and Players' Player of the Year with Tammi George and Anna Morphet winning the respective awards for Wolves Women.   Tammi also won the goal of the season trophy as did Matheus Nunes with his first Wolves goal.  Adama and Captain Anna Price were recognised for their work in the Wolves Community with Anna also breaking the Women's appearance record at 348.  Wolves Women also celebrated their win in the Birmingham County Cup.

Remembrance

Wolves held their fan remembrance service before the Everton match.  Secretary Slape participated remembering our members who have passed away in the recent few years.  A copy of the Valete is attached but it includes Jeff Ball, Ivan Gillespie, Dave (Ferdie) Gilson, Sid Green, Nick Hone, Leo Mastbraker, Carl Millward, Terry Peachey, Mike Peppiatt, Steve Roe, Gordon Shead, Dave Shoesmith, and Derek Stedman and we also remembered Stuart Hatwell.

2023-24 EPL Season

The Premier League 2023/24 season dates have been confirmed, with the campaign starting on Saturday 12 August 2023 and finishing on Sunday 19 May 2024. No two rounds in the Christmas period will take place within 48 hours of each other.  There is a mid-season player break, which will take place between 13-20 January.  The season will consist of 34 weekends, three midweek rounds and one Bank Holiday match round.

Fixtures for the 2023/24 season will be released at 09:00 BST on Thursday 15 June.

The FSA - European Fans Congress 22-25 June in Manchester

Football Supporters Europe (FSE) and co-hosts the Football Supporters’ Association (the FSA) are pleased to announce that the registration for the European Football Fans Congress 2023 (EFFC2023) in Manchester, England, is now open! Hosted at the Manchester Metropolitan University in the heart of the city, EFFC 23 will be heading to England for the first time since its inaugural edition in 2008.

    White Hart Lane Station is the nearest to the stadium, which is only a few minutes walk away. It is served by trains from Liverpool Street. Away fans should use Northumberland Park Station which is about a 10 minute walk away. On exiting the station cross the road and proceed along Park Lane. On reaching the stadium turn right and the entrance to the away supporters turnstiles is far down on the left. Northumberland Park is served by trains from Stratford. The nearest London Underground station is Seven Sisters (Victoria Line). The ground is a 30-35 minute walk away, but buses 149, 249, 279 or 349 go to the ground from outside the station along Tottenham High Road. Take exit 1 on leaving the station.London Overground also run services from Seven Sisters to White Hart Lane station.

27 Sun 27/2/22 v West Ham (2pm kick off) Sky

    The London Stadium is served by three railway stations, Stratford, Stratford International and Hackney Wick, all of which are around a 10-15 minute walk away.  Stratford Station is located next to the large Westfield Shopping Centre. It is the main station in the area, with overground connections from Liverpool Street and Clapham Junction. Jubilee, Central tube lines and Docklands Light Railway also serve this station.  Stratford International Railway Station - Served by High Speed trains from London St Pancras (journey time 7 minutes). It is also located on the Docklands Light Railway. Hackney Wick Railway Station - Served by trains from Clapham Junction, Richmond and Stratford.

The nearest London Underground tube station to the Emirates Stadium is Holloway Road on the Piccadilly line, which is only a few minutes walk from the stadium. This station is closed after matches. Arsenal and Finsbury Park stations (Piccadilly Line) and Highbury & Islington (Victoria Line) are also within walking distance.

You can also catch a main line train from Kings Cross to Finsbury Park, which is a 10-15 minute walk to the stadium. Drayton Park Station, which is situated right by the stadium is shut prior to weekend matches and after all matches due to safety concerns of hosting fans on the station's narrow island platform.

WWW Lounge

Guest former player appearing in the World Wide Wolves lounge for the FA Cup clash is Tony Daley (from Alan Perrins).  Jim McCalliogg was there for the Saints match, and was greeted by Chairman Earl.

Player and Manager of the Month January - vote Joao & Bruno

Wolves carried through their form from December into the new year with four victories from their four outings to kick off 2022 in the best possible way, including passage into the Emirates FA Cup fourth round.  During the month, Lage’s side also claimed a historic three points at Old Trafford – the club’s first win against Manchester United away from home since 1980 – while seeing off Southampton at Molineux and a win on the road in west London against Brentford.  This is the first time Lage has been nominated for the Premier League’s top managerial award since he moved to the Black Country during the summer.

The Wolves head coach is up against Pep Guardiola (Manchester City), Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool), and Dean Smith (Norwich City).

Joao Moutinho scored the winner at Old Trafford and the first goal at the Bees with an assist for Ruben Neves' winner.  The EPL say Joao Moutinho (WOL) P3 W3 D0 L0​ G2 A1 Wolves' midfield maestro was at his best as they won all three matches. He scored a fine winner at Manchester United to cap off an impressive individual display and provided a goal and an assist against Brentford.  Voting is here  Voting closes at Midday on Monday 31st January.

Wolves FPA Dinner and Hall of Fame Inductions

The FPA have announced their dinner to be on Friday March 25th 2022 at Molineux (exact location to be confirmed following the fire in the Jack Hayward suite area.  It will again be hosted by the superb Johnny Phillips

Stuart has announced that, at last, we can schedule the 55th Anniversary Dinner - albeit one year late.  The date for your diary is Saturday July 16th 2022, and it is again at The Valley (Charlton).  

Member and non-member ticket prices will be finalised as soon as we can, together with reservation details.  Stuart and Carp; are endeavouring to keep the price as close to the 50th as possible, if not the same.

As ever, the theme will be a closely guarded secret and former player attendance equally so, but it promises to live up to the very high standard set throughout our history. Such as: the 40th (1966 reunion)/45th The League Cup wins  (Mick wouldn't touch it)/and the 50th With KennyJ

Stuart has also reserved a limited number of double rooms with breakfast at a nearby hotel (which we used for the 50th) You can also request one of these,  which will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

When you press "Submit" a copy will be emailed to you and to Stuart to make the reservation as well as to the Treasurer to check for payments.   Payment by cheque may be made and is explained on the website.

You may have seen the update on Doug that he left ICU and then the hospital and is renting a villa to recuperate before he's allowed to fly home.

The FSA say "

Since the publication of the final Fan-led Review report the response to the raft of well thought out and detailed recommendations has been almost overwhelmingly positive.

One small group of dissenters have made themselves known this week however - executives at Premier League football clubs.  On one end of the scale their ill-thought out criticisms of the Fan-led Review are nakedly self-serving and on the other it seems as if they're beginning to lose touch with reality.  Chief among them was Leeds United chief executive Angus Kinnear who compared the report's transfer levy to collectivisation of Chinese agriculture, leading to the deaths of millions, under Chairman Mao.

Train services from Waterloo are being diverted via Guildford - taking around 2 hours: For example the 08:05 Waterloo Arrives Southampton Central at 10:01 while the 08:30 arrives 10:50.  Return times may even be longer

If joining after Woking expect rail replacement buses to Winchester.

If driving, take the M3 after the M25 - the M27 is closed between Fareham East and Fareham West (the route when taking the the A3 from  Guildford).  You can take the A3 from the M25 to Guildford then the A31 to Winchester but there are also road works on it.

An advance warning: You may also wish to plan Boxing Day travel (Watford at Molineux) as there may be no main line trains

Dave Instone wrote: I just thought I would let you know about my latest Wolves book (see front cover attached), which is due out at the start of October.

It is all about the club in the 1970s, with colour on every page and with hundreds of photos, many previously unseen. I think it’s unique in terms of Wolves books; something lovely for the coffee table!

GOLDEN GLOW - favourite floodlight matches  from Clive Corbett

Geoffrey Publications is delighted to announce the forthcoming availability of a new book, ‘Golden Glow: Favourite Wolves’ floodlit matches 1953 to present day’, by Clive Corbett and Steve Gordos.

The first time that Molineux hosted a floodlit match was against a South African XI on 30th September 1953.  This was the first of the famous floodlit friendlies of the 1950s that included visits from the likes of Spartak, Honved and Real Madrid. Of course this was just the beginning of a rich history of contests under lights for Wolverhampton Wanderers that included the UEFA Cup run of 1971-72, the visit of Leeds United in May of the same season, the revival of the 1980s, brief stays but memorable nights in the Premiership under Dave Jones and Mick McCarthy, right up to the successes of Nuno’s team.

But the list above is not an exhaustive one as over 100 matches have been chosen by a combination of fans and former players, a number of which are far from glorious and quite surprising. Steve and Clive have even been persuaded to bend their initial rules by including away matches and afternoon games that were partially floodlit for some of their duration. If you are quick, there may even be time for you to submit your choice, if you haven’t already done so.

The book is scheduled for publication around November 2021.  We are now offering you the opportunity to subscribe to the book and if you do this, your name will appear in it. This can be done either in your name or in memory of a lost relative or friend. The fixtures were published today. The season kicks off on Saturday August 14th and closes Sunday 22nd May.   Most will, of course, change from Sky, BTSport and Amazon fixture scheduling, so these are preliminary.  We will include expected date change dates on the website fixture sections when these are published.    This season we have an extra "home" - London/SE match following Fulham's relegation with Watford powering back and, at last, the Bees winning a playoff final to gain promotion to the Premier League at last.   Our (usually) enjoyable visits to Brentford/Kew can resume but at their impressive new ground in the old Kew Bridge station coalyards, and a new ground for the collectors.  Our "home" matches are

6 Season Tickets may be available

Although season ticket prices haven't yet been published they are expected to be raised given the "Ask Wolves" comments by Vinnie Jones and Russell Jones (transcript here:

https://www.wolves.co.uk/news/club/20210528-ask-wolves-2-full-transcript/  ) even after a reported 14% increase for 2019-20.  Sales were suspended for 2020-21, and some rebate is due for the previous season.

 As you are probably aware we have 6 Club season tickets available to members on a match-to-match basis.  Following the current need to correlate identities with tickets at matches, Peter Woodifield has been advised by the Wolves Ticket Office that the tickets in future have to be allocated to indiv​iduals as, under the current restrictions, they cannot​ change names from match to match. We are not sure if this will be a permanent or temporary arrangement.   

If any member like to have one of the tickets transferred to their name, please contact Peter. There are 4 tickets still available 2 in the Billy Wright stand and 2 in the Steve Bull stand.   As an idea of prices 2019/20 (the last time they were on offer) were

2. Wolves fan consultations

As Peter Abbott mentioned when the Fans Parliament was reconsidering its future, Wolves wish to have more direct contact on issues which fans have (and other questions too), and propose to use direct contacts including a focus group approach.  However, they would like to gauge which to concentrate on and Peter has-been asked by the Club to ask London Wolves members for any suggestions for consultation topics for potential focus groups to then discuss and progress.   So please feed back your ideas to Peter at abbswolf@londonwolves.com.

Peter says "They are looking for more general areas to like they did with matchday experience.  (Not so much about the fans' return as this is already in hand.)  Nor,  say the rather large topic of ground redevelopment, but rather a composite part of that such as disabled access.

I've already suggested a couple:

    Integration with public transport (as anyone who has found less that 15 minutes between getting out of the ground and getting to the station).   Match day buses, park'n'ride - all sorts of aspects here.

    Improved exit strategy on local roads post match.

    And I know that Mark Feehan would love to see improvements to the club shop online experience."

Fans Parliament

There was an overwhelming vote in favour from our members to transition to a Supporters' Trust, which was echoed by other supporter groups and in the WWFP members vote.   The transition effort and who will lead it (following the resignation of the originally elected chair) will now be decided at an EGM in the near future.   If you have any questions please contact Peter Abbott who will be advising. abbswolf@londonwolves.com

Former minister Helen Grant has launched a Bill to address Football Governance.  “The governance of English football is broken,” Grant told MPs. “Our national game, the beautiful game is in crisis.  “These issues are not new but have been laid bare and amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic, during which sadly football has failed to speak with one voice. We’ve seen much loved clubs go to the wall.” Grant’s bill seeks legislation to create an independent regulator that would govern all of English football from grass-roots to the top tier. In this issue we remember friends at Molineux and from WWLSC who have passed away during this last year, announce the winner of our Player of the Season trophy for 2019-20, present a virtual AGM to keep members informed as we were unable to convene in the summer, celebrate Anna Price's 300th appearance for Wolves Women while they suffer from another suspended season.  Historian David Dungar unearths what could be the earliest known London Wolves badge, while Steve reviews the newest of Wolves signings.  Match reports conclude the pre-pandemic Premier League season, with a brief dalliance with Champions League qualification possibilities in the constrained restart.   A special feature covers Wolves in Europe, reviews two great Wolves books, and has formal announcement of the Player of the Season 2019-20.  

Stuart was also delighted to be able to announce that London Wolves are the World Wide Wolves UK Supporters' Club of the year, partnering New York Wolves as the overseas club.   We expect to have a more comprehensive article in the new year ,together with the 2020-21season review.

4. Wolves entertainmentsYou may recall Roy Eagles' super Christmas events, especially those in the huge marquee at the Bluebrick.  In 2013, as chairman of Jody Craddock's testimonial year, Jason brought Jody along to the lunch.  In  2014 we were privileged to be joined by Jason and Lucy as they were fund raising for Breakthrough Breast Cancer before she sadly succumbed to the illness.   Jason, now with his wife Aimee and daughter Olivia, have continued these efforts, and we congratulate them for having passed the huge milestone of a quarter of a million pounds raised for B-B-C.   They've not stopped though, with more activities and the book sales - see below - also supporting both B-B-C and now, thanks to Olivia, Wolverhampton's neo natal unit

Latest issues from the Wolf Whistle podcast include Budgie, our player of the year 1982-84, the last England international before Conor Coady and now playing for Woking, pitchside announcer Steve Hermon who was in the ref's dugout when Brown slipped and Kenny Miller scored against ManU, the physio under Graham Hawkins, GT, Tommy Doc and others, Denis Conyerd; former Press Officer Paul Berry choosing a great XI with anecdotes, and, wait for it... These, hopefully, will appear in the second volume of Tales from the Tape.   Volume 1 of the book has now shipped, but is still available to order at TalesfromtheTape.co.uk - all proceeds to Breakthrough Breast Cancer and the neo-natal unit.  Over 7--- copies have been sold, over £6,000 raised for the charities plus £1,500 for the Steve Bull foundation.  It kicks off with one of our favourite event guests, right winger and record penalty taker, Terry Wharton and lightly trips through the decades.  Well, perhaps lightly is an overstatement until we get to Kights!    Jason looks at the dark days of the 80s and what really happened from the horse's mouth - Director Doug Hope, who worked with the Doog to save the club when everyone else had given up.   As well as the brightness of some of our great strikers, the real views of key managers, especially Dave Jones which entangled Jason with Jeff Stelling.  Four of our guests from that 2013 Xmas lunch are in the book while Mike's story is of course told in his "Happy Wanderer".  In case you hadn't realised, the subscriber editions, autographed by several players, covered the production costs, meaning that much much more of the funds go to the charities, and it is great to see several London Wolves members supported this.

3. Rule Change

As part of our affiliations to the Football Supporters' Association we should include in our members' rules a statement on inclusivity.  Most organisations now reflect this and it is, as well, a sensible precaution against difficult incidents.   The Executive have approved the insertion of new rule #36 and old 36 and 37 are renumbered.   This rule is effective now but requires approval at an AGM by the membership and will be brought forward for that approval next time we can hold one.  The general rules would now read

GENERAL

35. Any member may, at all reasonable times, request an inspection of The Club accounts.
36. W.W.L.S.C is an inclusive, positive and representative organisation, open and accessible to all supporters regardless of their age, income, ethnicity, gender, disability, sexuality or religious or moral belief(s) and without discrimination of any kind.
37. Life membership of W.W.L.S.C. shall be at the discretion of an A.G.M.
38. These rules may only be amended at an A.G.M. or at an E.G.M. convened for that purpose.

Fosun have a habit of providing answers just as the questions start to get louder. And there is one particular question on the lips of Wolves supporters right now: who is going to replace Raul Jimenez?
Performances have been inconsistent since the striker’s injury at Arsenal last month and he has been missed considerably, even against Chelsea when the team came good. Wolves have never needed a replacement more than they need one now, yet they are operating in the market at its absolute worst. A January transfer window in a post-Brexit reality is not an environment any self-respecting club wants to be relying upon for solutions.  With teenager Fabio Silva not quite ready and Owen Otasowie clearly not even so much as a makeweight in attack, the need to strengthen the side has never been so obvious. For the first time in Nuno Espirito Santo’s tenure, the head coach has not got the players he wants at his disposal. What makes the current situation difficult is that any new signing must be in a position to go straight into the first team.  One of the long-term recruitment strategies involves strengthening the base of British players at the club. This is for two reasons. The FA Governing Body Endorsement (GBE) points system for signing players outside the single market will apply to EU players once the Brexit transition takes place.  So Wolves need to find more value in the home market now that the cheaper EU nationalities are subject to the same non-EU regulations. Secondly, Premier League teams are not allowed any more than 17 non-homegrown players in their squad. UEFA defines homegrown players as those who, regardless of their nationality, have been trained by their club or another club in the same national association for at least three years between the age of 15 and 21. Back in February, Spurs only had four homegrown players, which is one of the reasons Joe Hart’s summer move to north London was not as surprising as it first appeared. The problem with the January market is that there is neither value nor an abundance of homegrown players available for a move. Wolves are as likely to secure a top British striker in Jimenez’s class as Nuno is to be arranging a summer holiday with Lee Mason.
Now, more than ever before, the club’s relationship with Mendes will come to the fore. It is hard to overstate the importance of Mendes when deals need to be struck. As was proved in the summer, when Matt Doherty moved to Spurs and was replaced with Barcelona’s Nelson Semedo, Wolves can now operate in the highest echelons of the market. But just as significant as the players Mendes has within his stable is his role as a broker.  Wolves have earmarked several potential overseas replacements for Jimenez. Acquiring one within their transfer model who can satisfy the new points criteria will be difficult.  Nuno needs a stop-gap replacement for his injured talisman rather than a player such as Silva, who was clearly brought in with future development in mind.  The question of risk reward comes in. How much money are Fosun prepared to outlay at a time when there is no value in the market? There is a pressing need to cover for between now and the end of the season, yet there is also a question surrounding when Jimenez will be able to return. Despite his remarkable progress, it is not a foregone conclusion that he will be ready for the start of next season.  Transfer talk can be tedious, particularly as so many targets come and go with the wind. But one fascinating prospective signing who would illustrate the club’s extensive reach is Serbian striker Luka Jovic. He has been marginalised since a much-hyped move from Eintracht Frankfurt to Real Madrid 18 months ago. That he is on the club’s radar has much to do with the current alignment with Gestifute. Although Jovic is with the LIAN Sports agency, Mendes is in prime position to broker any further move, having previously earmarked the player as a potential option for his close associate Jose Mourinho when he was Manchester United manager.  Jovic and Jimenez are former team-mates at Benfica, where Gestifute have been an influential presence for many years and played an integral part in securing the Mexican striker’s transfer to Wolves.  The 22-year old was an unused substitute as Real Madrid ran out 3-1 winners at Eibar last Sunday, and he has failed to win the trust of Zinedine Zidane since his 60million euro move to Spain.  Whether or not he leaves the Bernabeu any time soon is privy only to those close to the situation, but it is Gestifute’s role that would be pivotal to any deal. That is why Fosun keeps the agency close. Much changes quickly at this time of year. It could be Jovic or another striker altogether, but the point is that this elite agency can facilitate big moves quickly when required.  Relationships are important. There is a strong working understanding with Liverpool at present, following the transfers of Diogo Jota and Ki-Jana Hoever which were completed without any protracted fuss. That relationship would be beneficial if Divock Origi became a serious option, but at present Liverpool are in no hurry to sell and Nuno has his reservations about the player. 
Circumstances change, though. Where the hunt for Jimenez’s replacement ends could be at the feet of any number of targets at home or abroad that the club has worked diligently on

scouting.  Many supporters, perhaps understandably, have a ravenous appetite for transfer speculation, but with so many uncertainties in a fluid market there is little to be gained from second guessing any activity. What is not up for debate, though, is that the team has reached a point where it cannot continue effectively by maintaining the status quo.

Wolves Fans Parliament transitioning to a Supporter’s Trust.

Why consult you all I hear you say! Well one thing the Fans Parliament admit to is being perceived as a Closed Shop and a Supporters' Trust is totally opposite to that.  A supporters consultation group should act with the authority of the wider fan base. The setup and constitution of fans parliament restricts the Democratic process required. I think most of us have heard of our Fans Parliament but we weren’t too sure what it did so I thought I would look into it and by doing that The Fans Parliament asked if the discussion could be opened up to memberships. So.....

What is a Supporters Trust?

A Supporters Trust is a democratic not for profit organisation of supporters. It is committed to strengthening the voice of supporters in the decision-making process at a club and strengthening the links between the club and the community it serves.

Supporters trusts are constituted as community benefit societies a form of cooperative that operates under a one member one vote principle. These societies are registered with the Financial Services Authority and any changes to the rules must be approved by the members and only become effective once the Financial Services Authority has agreed them, checking that they are in keeping with the spirit of the organisation. The members own all assets and liabilities collectively .Under FSA rules the trust must remain solvent if it is to continue to legally exist any profit made is either kept his reserves or reinvested to meet its objects.

In contrast to a supporters club the main aim of the Supporters Trust is to influence through consultation, the way that the football club is governed and that views of supporters are considered on all key decisions.

Clubs that already have a Supporters Trust include Liverpool , Manchester United, Arsenal, Spurs, and Leicester. (Arsenal charge £20, Fulham £10 pa but WW will try to avoid a charge by attracting sponsorship)

Creating a supporters trust is a big step. It requires active and committed leadership and will require the buy in of several members to set it up. The football supporters Association will assist during this transition, they have dedicated officers and template documents and guides that will help through the process. The present fans parliament also believe that the football club will get behind the transition because they hopefully will recognise that it’s another step on the path towards Wolves being a top six club on and off the field and they have already indicated the present Parliament approach needs refreshing.

Once the trust is set up a member vote will be organised to merge the present fans parliament into a new supporter’s trust. Membership to the supporters’ trust will be open to all Wolves supporters, there will be no restrictions on numbers as there presently is with the fans parliament. A steering committee would need to be formed to deliver the setup of the trust after which there would be a full member vote to elect the committee and the officers of the trust.

The fans parliament would like to hear all views at their next AGM which is scheduled for January.

The proposals above are those of the present fans parliament, however they need feedback from yourselves with regard to whether or not their suggestions are feasible and agreeable with supporters.

note: the Parly is currently a member of the FSA (as are we) but would be able to transition to being an affiliate member and gain more voting and access on the key issues for fans (VAR, ownership, fans in stadia, match scheduling,  pay-per-view, meetings with DCMS etc...)

We were very sad to learn that Dave "Ferdie" Gilson had passed away, just before his 85th birthday.    His first love was athletics, being a runner from his youth, and a member of  Polytechnic Harriers at 15 before moving on to Belgrave.  He was in the winning relay team in the picture on Facebook and was also associated with South London Harriers, whose membership included Gordon Pirie.  He had many stories of these days, but Wolves came a very close second to athletics, as he attended his first match in the 1940s and he was always keen to attend matches and other Wolves events.  He is pictured here at the Steve Saul run 1980 League Cup Final reunion dinner with Wolves legend Kenny Hibbitt

     

Much of the fixture information below hasn't changed yet (apart from the Man City match) so I have just forwarded it.   The EFL is allowing clubs to stream matches live to Season Ticket Holders, and MPs are putting pressure on the Premier League to follow suit, so watch out for official announcements.   There are press reports expecting changes from the 3pm stand kickoffs.

Out of 380 Premier League games there are 220 Premier League live TV games to be shared between Sky Sports, BT Sport and Amazon Prime (This split is 140 shown on Sky Sports, 58 on BT Sport and 22 on Amazon Prime).  The FSAs asks "What do the UK, North Korea and Saudi Arabia all have in common?" answering "Well as it stands, those are the only three countries in the world that you won't be able to see your Premier League team play all their games (legally) when the season gets back under way." All English Football League games will be available to watch from home while matches continue to be played behind closed doors or at limited capacity. A “flexible framework” has been agreed with Sky Sports to allow all games not televised live to be streamed online.  The EFL says it is a “temporary measure” that will be “subject to regular review” from early October.  Under the agreement season ticket holders will be able to stream their club’s home matches, with match passes also available for a £10 fee.’   (Sounds a bit pricey if you also have to buy a season ticket which you can't use, although Wolves rebate scheme would have roughly covered this).

Tomorrow Brighton & Hove Albion have a pre-season friendly against Chelsea and have around 2,500 fans attending (OUT OF A 30,600 capacity)

Fixtures

Wolves first fixture is an 8pm kick off against the Blades.  So far, only Wolves home game versus Manchester City has been selected for TV coverage - and moved to Monday September 21st with an 8pm kick off.   Also attached is a mini-guide for printing for the season, which is, of course, subject to lots of changes.  It is sized for folding to credit card size not full A4.

There have been rumours all week that Matt Doherty is being pursued by Spurs for £12-18m, as Wolves chase Arsenal's Ainsley Maitland-Niles.  A fee in the order of £15m has been reported by Sky as agreed with Spurs.   Our 2015 Player of the season has always been most approachable at the MTPs and we wish him well (but not against us in matches like Keano)

Finally an important message from CAMRA supported by our Chairman

The Government is set to increase the amount of tax paid by some small independent breweries in the UK. This could lead to brewery closures and less choice at the bar for you.  To protect our small breweries, the beers they make, and your choice at the bar we are now asking CAMRA members to sign  this petition [https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/334066] on the UK Parliament petitions website, asking the Government to stop the changes.

The changes are going to be made to the Small Brewers’ Relief Scheme – CAMRA lobbied for the scheme to be introduced 20 years ago. It allows small brewers to pay less tax to compensate for the economies of scale in production enjoyed by larger brewers. Since Small Brewers Relief was introduced, the number of breweries has skyrocketed, along with choice at the pub.  Now the Government wants to take away tax relief from the brewers at the smaller end of the production scale so that larger ‘small’ brewers can pay less – it’s a ‘reverse Robin Hood’ tax. We need to persuade the Government to think again.  Please join me in signing the petition and sharing it with your friends and family – if 100,000 people sign it, it will be debated in Parliament.

Various fan polls and groups are promoting an "all fans back or no fans" position, which does seem to be the most popular option in social media postings.   If you have a view you may wish to let Peter A know (abbswolf@londonwolves.com).   The Government appears to be sticking to October as the earliest and no more than 30% of fans in spite of the Premier League promoting the position that the EPL is much better able to handle this.   Brighton and Hove Albion have offered to carry out a limited trial this weekend at a pre-season friendly.  

Wolves have asked fans to declare to the ticket office any groupings for attendance in limited numbers where they would like to be considered - please see Wolves statement at the end of this email.   You have until Monday 31st August to get in touch with Wolves.   e.g. Two family members not in the same household or two people normally travelling together.

Wolves "bubble" message to STH

The club is asking all season ticket holders who do not share the same household, but wish to attend the same matches, to register these groupings with the ticket office before Monday 31st August.

Initial capacity calculations indicate that it will not be possible to accommodate all season ticket holders in Molineux at one time, during the initial process of gradually returning fans to matches. Therefore, 2019/20 season ticket holders will be randomly split into groups based on household address.

We are, however, aware that some supporters who do not share a household will be dependent on each other to attend matches. For example, a parent and child may not reside at the same address, but would need to be allocated into the same season ticket holder group.

Season ticket holders should advise the club of a non-household grouping through the club’s ticketing website tickets.wolves.co.uk. A guide to the registering of a group can be found here.

Supporter groups are limited to a maximum of ten supporters and registrations will close on Monday 31st August.

Season ticket holders who simply wish to be grouped within the same household need take no further action.

We thank you all for your continued support and patience during the ongoing pandemic and unprecedented time. Supporters can be assured that the club are currently exploring all options with regards to the return of fans and are working with the Premier League and relevant authorities to optimise Molineux’s capacity when fans are able to return. An update on ticketing policies with reduced capacities will be given in due course.

Carl Millward

As many of you know, sadly, Carl passed away in April having contracted Covid-19.  Roy managed to arrange for Carl to be included in the Wolves Memorial Service which was streamed live.  A very popular member of London Wolves, he will be sorely missed.  Barry wrote in April "London Wolves lost one of their own today. Carl Millward lost his short battle with the coronavirus. Our thoughts are with his wife Paula, family and close friends. God Bless You Carl RIP"   We plan to publish an obituary in the next Newsletter.  If you have input to that please email Editor@LondonWolves.com or reply to this email.

The full programme of matches starts Friday June 19th  with Villa, Blades,  City and the Gooners completing their outstanding matches on Wednesday June 17.   Wolves' restart at the London Stadium.

All 92 outstanding matches will be live on tv with some free.   Sky will broadcast 64 (with 25 free on skysports.com and the Pick channel); the BBC have 4 (BBC1 or BBC2 or iPlayer), BTSport have 20 (none free at the moment) and Amazon have  4.  Matches will all be played behind closed doors

*Match days/times are Friday: 8pm; Sat: 12.30pm 3pm, 5.30pm & 8pm; Sun: 12pm, 2pm, 4.30pm & 7pm; Mon: 8pm; Tues, Weds & Thurs: 6pm & 8pm

TV coverage: If you already have Sky Sports, and BT Sport (directly or through Virgin Media) you'll get all matches but Amazon.   I think Amazon also streamed one of the December matches free so may try to tempt new subscribers.

    Free to air: Check your ordinary tv to find the Pick tv channel which is where Sky will broadcast their .  It's channel 11 on mine - do a digital retune if you can't see it.  BBC will probably be on BBC1 or BBC2 and on the iPlayer.

    BT Sport are offering a contract free deal at £25 pm details You can watch on a variety of platforms (tv, tablet, phone, pc)

    For Sky if you don't have Virgin Media or Sky boxes - a Now TV pass cheapest

    Amazon Prime subscription (with extras such as free delivery and ebooks costs £79 per year) It had the best presentation - even better than BT 4K and much better than Sky

October 2019 An Evening with Bully

Chairman Stuart Earl is delighted to confirm details of our very special "London Wolves Evening with Bully" for members courtesy of World Wide Wolves.   Steve and a Wolves Official will be travelling to London for a unique event on Wednesday 20th November.    

After detailed research on ale quality, private accommodation and bar snacks, Stoo has arranged this at 4:30pm for a 5pm start at The Grapes, 14 Lime Street, London, EC3M 7AN in the upstairs room.  We expect to finish around 8:30pm.

The Grapes is near Leadenhall Market with easy access from Cannon Street, Liverpool St (10-12 mins walk), Fenchurch Street (3mins walk) and Bank stations (6mins walk).

There will be a small admission charge to cover our costs of just £10 per head, payable on the door.  

Please reply to this email to confirm if you will attend (or confirm directly to Stuart via the Facebook page) so that we can check numbers (there is a capacity limit) and provide sufficient bar snacks. On Wednesday 4th December Wolves play West Ham at the Golden Palace.  On Thursday 5th December at 7pm Roy has arranged a London Wolves table at the Wolves Allstars Christmas Dinner at the long standing Wolves hotel - the Mount in Tettenhall with Mel and the lads - many of the former players will be there.  The two course dinner is also another in aid of Breast Cancer now and Legacy4Lucy. Jason also promises live entertainment "with our very own striker and ‘Souled Survivor’ Simon Dunkley!'

Raúl Jiménez and Mexico have won through to the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup final on Sunday versus USA.   The match will be televised on Monday at noon on FREESPORTSHD (channel 553 on VirginMedia 422 on Sky).  Raúl needs one more goal to move to the golden boot position, and not forgetting his many assists.  Sports Illustrated has Mexico as the favourites for the match at Soldier Field "Paced by an attack led by Wolverhampton Wanderers star Raúl Jiménez (five goals) and LA Galaxy loanee Uriel Antuna (four), Mexico will be favored in front of a sold-out, partisan crowd."

Premier League Asia Cup Saturday July 20th

The first legs are Wednesday July 17th at 11am UK time live on Sky versus Newcastle Utd (Man C play West Ham at 1:30 UK)

The third place match is on Saturday starting at 10:30 and the final at 1:30.

The nearest pub to the Horse & Groom showing Sky Sports is the Rising Sun near Goodge St tube (go South), 46 Tottenham Court Rd, Fitzrovia, London W1T 2ED

It opens normally at 11am on Saturday.  Goodge St is on the Northern Line (Morden-Waterloo-Euston-Barnet/Edgware)

(Breakthrough) Breast Cancer Now fundraising

Please join us in congratulating Jason Guy.  You will remember Lucy attended our Christmas lunch after her cancer diagnosis.   Jason has just broken through the £200,000 mark in Legacy4Lucy fundraising.

One of Jason's next events is another super evening at the Mount Hotel. Another Breast Cancer Now Fundraising Dinner with Carl Ikeme 10th October at the Mount Hotel.  Roy is considering, based on fixtures, whether we can book a table.  Tweet/message Jason at @wolvespremier if you wish to book individually.  Note that there is a no-food option.

FSF news from Stoo

Another campaign, led by Blackpool and Charlton fans is around Football Governance, which was given a boost with a Private Member's bill last week introduced by Chris Matheson (L, Chester)

The Wolves Parliament meeting was postponed and the fans' liason representative will update members - Peter Abbott is our rep.
