Dave Ferdie GilsonLondon Wolves were saddened to hear of the passing of long term member Dave Ferdie Gilson in August 2020 . Dave as we knew him, and Ferdie as the Athletics world knew him, first attended a Wolves game in the early 1940s. He participated in many London Wolves events and is pictured here before the 1980 League Cup Final dinner |
Carl Millward - RIPIt is with great sadness that we report the passing of Carl Millward, a long standing and very popular member from Covid-19. Our heartfelt sympathies are with Paula and his family. Carl’s funeral was in early May and Roy arranged for his mention in the Wolves Memorial Service, Roy writes “"Carl. Rest in peace my friend; you always put a huge smile on my face, you will be in safe hands now with all our wolves angels in the sky. " Thanks to Barry Baker, too, for picture of Carl in a familiar pose on Blackheath common. Carl was well known for his love of not only Wolves but also the scooter scene and Northern Soul and was pleased to meet BBC Midlands Queen of Soul at a Wolves Women event. Barry wrote in April "London Wolves lost one of their own today. Carl Millward lost his short battle with the coronavirus. Our thoughts are with his wife Paula, family and close friends. God Bless You Carl RIP" |

We were sorry to learn of Derek's death on 19th May. Derek was another long-term London Wolf based around Horsham, and who had an affinity for steam locos as well as Wolves. Our thoughts and prayers are with Diane and Derek's family. WWLSC are grateful for the family donation. |
Members of Wolves Fans’ Parliament have voted to support the Pay Per View (PPV) boycott in line with many other Premier League clubs and the National Football Supporters’ Association. The Premier League introduced a £14.95 PPV charge on top of Sky and BT monthly subscriptions for all Wolves matches that have not been chosen for normal live coverage. The first Wolves game subject to a £14.95 PPV charge will be versus Crystal Palace on Friday 30th October 2020. Wolves Fans’ Parliament is encouraging supporters to boycott the game and instead donate to a Wolverhampton Foodbank. Fans’ Parliament members have identified The Well Foodbank as a charity that delivers over 9500 food parcels a year, delivering to over 100 homes in and around Wolverhampton each week - https://www.thewellwolverhampton.co.uk/ Fans’ Parliament Chairman, Neil Dady, commented ‘’ The PPV issue has galvanised supporters across the country and it is great that we have come together to turn the boycott campaign into something positive. I hope Wolves fans will get behind the boycott PPV campaign by supporting this local charity.’’ Football supporters have a history of supporting food banks, usually around Christmas time. The Liverpool/Everton ‘Fans Supporting Food Banks’ is now well established in the Merseyside area and other supporters’ groups such as Newcastle, Spurs, Villa and Chelsea have all committed to supporting this campaign. Jas Bahra, Wolves FP Vice Chairman, spoke to Caroline Price at The Well and Caroline was pleased to see the possibility of much needed support: ‘’Today in the City of Wolverhampton there are families and single people struggling to buy food and other essentials. For people on low incomes, a crisis, such as COVID, can mean going hungry. We are pleased that Wolves Fans Parliament has decided to support our work. We can help a lot more needy people with this.’’ Wolves FP FSA delegate, Glenn Aston, reinforced how strong the anti PPV feeling was among supporters, ‘’the statement we issued last week regarding PPV received a record number of views both on our website and across social media. It is clear that supporters see the introduction of additional charges as a step too far. We are in constant dialogue with the FSA and other Premier League clubs and believe this boycott will bring about a change when the November TV fixtures are announced’’ Supporters can make an immediate donation via The Well website: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/donation-web/charity?charityId=1017054&utm_source=extbtn&utm_campaign=donatebtn We are working towards having a smart phone texting code available early next week in time for Friday’s match.
